Emanuel School, Battersea Rise, London Building
Following an invited competition, Design Engine Architects have been commissioned to start design work on one of the largest building projects ever undertaken on the main site at Emanuel School, Battersea Rise, London.
The project will transform the school’s educational offering, with a large light-filled refectory on the ground floor, doubling as an assembly and multi-use space, and specialist science labs, classrooms and computing/coding rooms above.
All sciences continue to thrive at the school. The school’s ambition is to have a first-rate science space reflecting the talents of the pupils and staff, as well as providing natural collaboration across these subjects and others.
This large-scale new building is part of the sequenced critical build programme at the school. This programme will ensure that staff and pupils enjoy outstanding facilities across all subject areas, in the creative and performing arts and for sports.
Emanuel was founded in Westminster in 1594 and was granted a Royal Charter in 1601. It moved to Wandsworth in 1883 and is now one of the top fully co-ed day schools in the country, with pupils from ages 10-18.
“This is a fantastic project which will involve innovative solutions to deliver whilst ensuring the school can continue to offer the students the best possible educational experience. We can’t wait to get started!” Richard Jobson, Founding Director, Design Engine Architects
