Pop up Chandelier Pavilion in Camden
Design: KSR Architects
To mark the start of the first ever Camden Create festival – a three day celebration of creativity in the area – local architectural practice KSR Architects has created a pop up public pavilion at the area’s famous Britannia Junction.
The colourful creation is made up of 640 fluorescent tubes, which will be held together by a lightweight theatre and stage truss system. The different colours represent the variety of creative companies working in Camden and the tubes are purposely positioned like wind chimes, allowing them to move in the wind echoing conversations, networking and interactions between people in the area.
Visitors and locals to Camden will be able to experience the vibrant design for themselves from today until Thursday 15th May when the festival comes to a close.
The Camden Create Festival is a celebration of the creative businesses and people of Camden. The festival will feature three days of talks, workshops and events in iconic locations such as Proud and The Hawley Arms from 13th-15th May.
Renowned Camden figures such as Alex Proud (founder of Proud Galleries) and Wayne Hemingway (fashion designer and co-founder of Red or Dead) are just some of the local names that will be talking about their work and careers and offering advice to those looking to break into the creative industries. There will also be a host of events showing Camden as a great place to play as well as work including a wrap-up party at The Jazz Cafe.
The festival is part of a wider strategy implemented by the organisers, Camden Town Unlimited promoting Camden Town as a place to work, live and visit.
