House II, Cambridge, Massachusetts
Architect Kyu Sung Woo designed House II for his wife, a concert pianist, and himself: a couple in their late seventies who are still active, but starting to think about their changing needs. It is located on a small street in West Cambridge, next door to the home they built 30 years ago (House I) where they raised their two children.

Architect Kyu Sung Woo, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has designed the Asian Culture Complex, establishing a new touchstone for May 18th Democracy Plaza in downtown Gwangju, South Korea. In a setting associated with the nation’s historic pro-democracy rallies, the Asian Culture Complex is a living commemoration celebrating the egalitarian, progressive nature of architecture and the performing and visual arts.

The contemporary, minimalist building makes a strong statement. This limestone clad and glass enclosed structure signals a new entrance to the campus. It also connects the school to the community. The museum entrance faces outward towards the main streets and a 1.5 acre front lawn leading to the campus.
Honor Award at the AIA Central States Design Excellence Awards received for this building in 2008.
