Dyer Architects Office News
Two of Dyer’s UK offices are relocating this summer to city-centre addresses with increased capacity and an improved working environment for our growing staff base. The London team have moved from Holborn to Paddington, while our Edinburgh team are trading-in the West End for one of Edinburgh’s most attractive New Town locations.
In recent years, Dyer has grown from a small-to-medium enterprise to a recognised international practice. In 2007, we were awarded ‘Business Achiever of the Year’ by leading design periodical -The Architects’ Journal – and this year managed to break into the AJ100 for the first time (at number 88). Turnover at Dyer has increased 140% (2006-2008) and c.30% of our fees derives from international work. Dyer has a varied client base across a range of sectors and building types.
The expansion of the business has been undoubtedly profitable for us but it has presented its own set of challenges, not least the issue of where to put all our staff! In choosing to relocate our project teams, Dyer are making a commitment to the sustainable growth of our staff base in enhanced working environments. The new London office for Dyer on North Wharf Road (W2) is currently 100 strong and has a capacity of 150 while our Edinburgh base on George Street (EH2) allows us to increase our resource in Scotland by 25%. Each office affords access to natural light, fresh air and stunning city views. A large portion of the Paddington floor space has already been allocated to our break-out zone ‘DyerCafé’.
As our global profile grows, it is important to us that Dyer are located close to major transport nodes. Moving to Paddington affords us reduced travelling times to our office in Cheltenham and a journey of only 15 minutes’ to Heathrow Airport. The Edinburgh office is only five minutes’ walk from Waverley Station and a 30 minute bus ride to Edinburgh Airport.
Tim Hampson (Director at Dyer) says:
“We are delighted that our concerted efforts to develop the business in the UK and abroad have resulted in the need to relocate to bigger premises. We hope that the expediency of travel will encourage more international staff to join our team, further enhancing our established multi-cultural staff base. We are also confident that it will streamline our ability to work with an ever increasing portfolio of global clients”.
“Dyer is a global architectural practice delivering enhanced value through design. We have over 40 years’ experience in providing unique buildings and places. Dyer are committed to a people-focused architecture that is sustainable and inspirational.”
