Neuroscience Center Aarhus
NEURO is the first of its kind in the world, a new Neuroscience Center designed by BIG will bring together psychiatry and neuroscience under one roof to combine groundbreaking science and treatment of physical and mental brain diseases, spinal cord and nervous systems. BIG’s 20 000 sqm design for Aarhus University Hospital mimics the gyrification of the human brain to utilize the limited site area most efficiently while creating synergies between the different disciplines within the hospital.

The Kalø Tower Visitor Access project allows access to one of Denmark’s archaeological gems, while offering and intricate spatial experience. Previously inaccessible, the visitor can enter and climb the main space of the tower, perceive the archaeological layers and view the landscape.

The Danish architecture practice AART has designed and completed the new children and youth hospice in Rønde, Strandbakkehuset, as the first newly built hospice of its kind in Denmark – with the overall aim of providing space for life, play and alleviation, thereby offering a vital home for the children, youths and their families in a vulnerable time of their lives.

Århus is the second-largest city in Denmark. It is located on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula, in the geographical centre of Denmark. The inner urban area contains around 269,000 inhabitants (2017) and the municipal population is approximately 336,000 (2017). It is the central city in the East Jutland metropolitan area, which had a total population of 1.4 million in 2016.
