The challenge of this project was to create a resort combining the local construction detailing and style with the requirements of a modern building, while taking into consideration its gorgeous natural setting. With this in mind, great care was taken in locating its entrance, its roads and its buildings so that this first class resort could offer its customers amazing views of the peninsula.

Grace Santorini Hotel in Greece
Reviving vernacular architecture in a place like Imerovigli is less about replicating its most recognisable forms and more about re-engaging with the logic that produced them in the first place—climate, geology, construction scarcity, and social use.
In Santorini, the “vernacular” is often reduced to a visual shorthand: whitewashed cubic volumes, blue accents, and the occasional vaulted roof. But those vaults were never aesthetic signatures; they were structural responses to limited timber, seismic conditions, and the need to carve habitable space into volcanic rock. When contemporary developments simply reproduce vaults at scale, they risk turning a once-adaptive system into scenography.
