The Republic of North Macedonia, is a country in the Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe. It gained its independence in 1991 as one of the successor states of Yugoslavia.
This landlocked country has borders with Kosovo to the northwest, Serbia to the northeast, Bulgaria to the east, Greece to the south, and Albania to the west. It constitutes approximately the northern third of the larger geographical region of Macedonia.
The capital and largest city, Skopje, is home to about a quarter of the country’s 2 million inhabitants. The majority of the residents are ethnic Macedonians, followed by Albanians, Turks, Romani, Serbs, Bosniaks, and Aromanians.

Designed by Sara Simoska Arhitektura, Cafè Modular promotes modular wooden cubes that are dynamic in the space. It is set in an ice cream cafeteria in Skopje where the client asked for intervention in the existing terrace cover structure.
The main design concept emerges from the functional aspects of the building, as well as the site. Birth of a fragile, transparent glass object from a heavy side crest gives the basics of the design and situates the project in the surrounding matrix.
