LIVERPOOL WATERS SET TO WELCOME TWO NEW ADDITIONS AS MAJOR DEVELOPMENTS GET THE GO-AHEAD
Liverpool Waters is set to welcome two new additions as planning permission has been granted for Peel Land and Property’s Plaza 1821, being built for the Regenda Group, and Your Housing Group’s Hive City Docks.
The new developments will be located at Princes Dock, one of the five neighbourhoods at Liverpool Waters. The announcement confirms 2017 as the most prolific year to date for the £5.5 billion Liverpool Waters project with another building, The Lexington, also scheduled for development in the near future.
Peel Land and Property will now press ahead with plans for Plaza 1821, a £21 million residential development which will house 105 one and two bedroom apartments and also has dedicated amenity space on the ground floor.
Plaza 1821 is named after the year Princes Dock opened and will be a private rental sector (PRS) development, the first of its kind for Peel Land and Property. Plaza 1821 will be managed by Redwing Living, a Liverpool-based property company which is a subsidiary of the Regenda Group.
Neil Baumber, development director for residential at Peel Land and Property, said:
“This is the first PRS project where Peel Land and Property will be acting as the developer of the new apartment project and we are excited and delighted to be working with Regenda. Our vision is to create a waterfront for the world, bringing life back to the historic docklands, and this announcement brings us closer to achieving that ambition.
“Plaza 1821 will be a high-quality development with spectacular views of the River Mersey and the surrounding waterfront. The focus now is on getting ready for the building works and ensuring we are on site as soon as possible.”
Martin Davies, director of development at the Regenda Group, said:
“We are delighted that planning permission has been granted for Plaza 1821. This landmark project for Regenda is our biggest ever single investment and an integral part of our ambitious strategy for the Liverpool City Region.
“The plans for Plaza 1821 show a spacious, high quality scheme which will be managed by our subsidiary, Redwing Living.
“Liverpool Waters is set to be a spectacular development and we are hugely excited to be part of Liverpool waterfront’s future.”
Hive City Docks, will comprise of 31-storeys, which will house 278 apartments with amenities including a restaurant on the top floor. The landmark waterfront tower represents a £55 million investment and is expected to take two years to construct.
John Cogbill, chief operating officer at Your Housing Group, said:
“This is fantastic news for the city of Liverpool. It’s great to see Peel’s Liverpool Waters masterplan becoming a reality and that high quality new homes are being prioritised as part of the regeneration.
“Hive City Docks will be an iconic development which complements the spectacular setting. The building has been designed to meet the needs of today’s rental market with world class facilities including around the clock concierge services, in-apartment technologies and a premium rooftop restaurant.”
In addition to the new developments at Princes Dock, exciting plans for the Central Dock neighbourhood at Liverpool Waters were revealed earlier in the year at the world’s premier property event, MIPIM in Cannes. The landmark regeneration scheme is also expected to be the new home of Everton Football Club who are hoping to build a state-of-the-art stadium at the Bramley Moore Dock.
Lindsey Ashworth, director of development at Liverpool Waters said:
“Our vision is to create a waterfront for the world and these two developments will take us one step closer to achieving that. Both of these developments will deliver quality living space and places for people to enjoy to the spectacular views on offer here.
“2017 has been the year when a lot of the work we’ve been doing behind the scenes has come to fruition and we are hopeful of more exciting announcements in the near future.”
