AtkinsRéalis named as supplier on major UK government framework across multiple sectors
AtkinsRéalis to support the delivery of major UK infrastructure across multiple government and public sector programmes
AtkinsRéalis, a world-class engineering services and nuclear company with offices around the world, has been named as a supplier on a major UK government framework to support the design, delivery and optimisation of major infrastructure and building programmes across the built environment, defence and nuclear sectors over the next four years.
The UK Government Commercial Agency (GCA)’s Construction Professional Services 2 framework provides a direct route for central government departments and public sector bodies to access multidisciplinary services across the full lifecycle of projects.
Appointment to seven lots of the £3.5 billion framework[1] enables AtkinsRéalis to deliver integrated solutions for complex projects through multi-disciplinary services in engineering, design, advisory and programme management.
The framework, potentially worth an estimated £340 million to AtkinsRéalis, covers the full lifecycle of public sector projects – including support for the UK’s defence estate and wider national security priorities, as well as playing a vital role across the UK’s nuclear decommissioning programmes.
“This framework is a key route for government and public sector bodies to deliver the UK’s most critical infrastructure, defence, nuclear and environmental programmes over the coming years,” said Ian L. Edwards, President and Chief Executive Officer, AtkinsRéalis. “The strong position secured by AtkinsRéalis reflects our ability to deliver complex programmes and our depth of experience across multiple sectors, underlining our position as a truly end-to-end engineering services provider.”
AtkinsRéalis has been appointed to the following lots:
• Lot 1: General Infrastructure and Built Environment
• Lot 3: Project Management
• Lot 5: Defence
• Lot 8: Nuclear
• Lot 9a, 9b and 9c: Flood Risk and Asset Management[2]
“This appointment comes at a time of sustained investment in UK infrastructure, defence, energy and environmental resilience,” said Chris Ball, President, United Kingdom & Ireland, AtkinsRéalis. “We are well positioned across multiple lots to bring our integrated, multi-disciplinary expertise to help clients deliver complex projects at pace, more efficiently, sustainably and safely. The delivery of critical infrastructure is essential in supporting growth and our UK teams are ready to play a leading role in its modernisation and upgrade across the built environment, nuclear and defence sectors.”
The latest appointment reflects AtkinsRéalis’ depth of infrastructure expertise across multiple sectors of the built environment and follows the recent inclusion on three Crown Commercial Service (now GCA) frameworks spanning various services. AtkinsRéalis has worked closely on the UK government estate for many years including programs for the Government Property Agency and has a well-established position in the nuclear sector working for more than 25 years on programs including Sizewell C and Hinkley Point C.
The framework will also draw on expertise with the Ministry of Defence where, since 2010, AtkinsRéalis has provided a range of services to Babcock at Devonport Royal Dockyard – home to the Royal Navy’s nuclear-powered submarines. AtkinsRéalis has also supported Babcock at HMNB Clyde, the operational home of the UK Submarine Service, and Rosyth Royal Dockyard, a key manufacturing and maintenance site.

AtkinsRéalis supports Department for Education in first-of-its-kind guidance for SEND design
AtkinsRéalis, a world-class engineering and project management services company, has played a key role in the development of new guidance on inclusion in learning spaces for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), by the Department for Education which is published today [25.06.26].
Children and young people with SEND across the country will be able to attend their local school, early years and college and know they belong there, as the Government delivers a first-of-its-kind package of advice to guarantee inclusion for all.
For the first time, new guidance sets out what families can expect to see on the ground, building on the commitment that every secondary school will, in time, have an inclusion base – a dedicated space providing targeted teaching and specialist support those who need it.
AtkinsRéalis has played a key role in drafting the guidance with DfE through its UK architecture practice, drawing on its breadth of expertise in the design of SEND schools in the UK.
Helen Groves, Technical Director for Architecture at AtkinsRéalis, said: “The launch of this guide is a really important piece of work in terms of advancing the principles and ethos of inclusive design that will benefit pupils at SEND schools for generations to come.
“To be involved in the development of the guidance has been a wonderful opportunity for our team to really demonstrate its insight and diversity of thinking in design to produce this first-of-its-kind guidance, and support the Department for Education in its aims for more inclusive learning spaces.”
The Government is taking an important step to set clear expectations on how settings can design their SEND provision so children and young people can thrive.

SNC-Lavalin Changing Name To Atkinsréalis – A New Name, A New Era
AtkinsRéalis fully integrated professional services and project management company
SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. (TSX: SNC), a fully integrated professional services and project management company with offices around the world, today announced that it is rebranding to AtkinsRéalis.
Building on more than a century of accomplishments from brands such as SNC-Lavalin, Atkins, Faithful+Gould, DTS and Atkins Acuity, AtkinsRéalis brings the whole organization together under one single brand and represents a major milestone in the Company’s transformation journey.
Headquartered in Montréal, Canada, AtkinsRéalis combines the expertise of its 36,000 employees across markets and regions to deliver end-to-end solutions in the built and natural environments.
“AtkinsRéalis is a new name for a new transformed company: our ability to draw upon such breadth and depth of global capabilities will maximize our ability to work seamlessly and provide one integrated offering for our clients and partners. Everything starts with our people; they care about each other, this Company and most importantly, they care about the work we do and believe in our purpose to engineer a better future for our planet and its people. I could not be prouder of our team’s dedication to the success of this Company”, said Ian L. Edwards, President and CEO of AtkinsRéalis.
“In recent years, we have deliberately repositioned the Company. We exited those parts of the business that were not profitable or aligned with our strategy; corrected underlying issues affecting our performance; doubled down on high-growth global markets; embraced digital transformation; and most importantly, redefined our purpose and strengthened our culture. We have reached an inflection point so now is the right time to rebrand to AtkinsRéalis and reflect the exciting future ahead of us”, added Mr. Edwards.
The name AtkinsRéalis is a coined term that combines Atkins, a legacy brand that is well-established across the Company’s international markets, and “Réalis,” inspired by the city of Montréal and the Company’s French-Canadian roots. “Réalis” also resembles the verb “to realize” or “to make happen” which emphasizes our focus on outcomes and project delivery.
As of September 13, the Company’s new brand and associated visual identity will be used on all communications materials. The Company’s common shares will begin trading on the TSX under the new ticker symbol (TSX: ATRL) prior to market open on September 18, 2023. SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. will not change its legal name until the Company obtains shareholder approval, as required by law, at its 2024 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
